New Baby - gift baskets

My little fabric baskets have been quite popular and so I thought I'd make some to compliment the range of baby accessories we have at the Country Market. I can make them in blue, pink or yellow and in different sizes too. We can make up pretty gift sets in them, wrap them in cellophane and finish with a ribbon and gift card! The baskets themselves are very useful for storing all sorts of things in the nursery.
The fabric is a baby ABC, matched with gingham on the reverse. You can choose which fabric you have on the inside as you can tie it either way. Buy online

Back to school!
I know the holidays have only just started, but I am already thinking ahead! I usually have a stock of hair accessories for school on my market stall and I can coordinate for most colours of uniform. This patriotic red, white and blue hairband has a removable felt fower with a red flower button.
Gifts for teachers
My son asked me to make some more felt brooches to give to his teacher and teaching assistant as thank you presents at the end of term. He found out their favourite colours and they were very well received!

Sewing kits
I have been busy making sewing kits this week. I found a little heart shaped ceramic pot and made a strawberry pin cushion, with a needle book to match!
I love this fabric - it has various little sewing 'notions' on it and comes in squares so it's perfect for quilting or small projects like this. This is another sewing kit - pin cushion and needle book.

Fabric basket
Fabric baskets are quite popular in Austria as bread baskets. Usually the corners are tied, but I have made some with little poppers. They can be used for all sorts of things and for all sorts of reasons! They are a great way of using scraps of material and wadding.

Felt flower brooch
I finished this corsage-style brooch a few days ago. I like this design, so I'm going to make a few more in different colours. It's perfect to pin on a coat, jacket or bag!

Cupcake pin cushions
Today I am collecting ideas for new things to make. I have been making lots of lovely cupcake pin cushions by hand and feel the need to get the sewing machine going again. A customer at the market asked me to make a pot stand, so I want to have a go at quilting one with a little loop handle. I've just seen some little fabric bread baskets too, which look quite fun to make. I have an idea for a new brooch design, so that's what I'm going to do by hand later, when the footie is on!
